Broadway and 33rd

Camera: Voigtlander R2A
Film: Kentmere 400

I would like to wish everyone a happy New Year!
Do you have a New Year's resolution?
I plan to start developing my own black and white film some time this year, as well as read more books on the Renaissance. Currently, there are about 35-40 books on that list.

I am very disappointed at my local Rite Aid, which somehow manged to expose my first roll of Fuji Superia 400. I guess I wont be taking my C41 film there anymore.

Merry Christmas and an Anniversary

Camera: Voigtlander R2A
Film: Kentmere 400

I was originally going to post a photo I took of the tree in Rockefeller Center a few days ago, but sadly my local lab wont have the roll developed until Sunday.

Here is a photo of my grandfather, who is celebrating his fifty-sixth wedding anniversary today. I wish I could have gotten my grandmother to pose, but she doesn't like getting her photo taken.

I hope everyone has a Happy Christmas!

36th and 5th

Camera: Voigtlander R2A
Film: Kentmere 400

As I was walking up the stairs to exit the Bryant Park subway station, I noticed that a lady near the top of the stairs dropped her cell phone. It fell tumbling down to the platform. I decided to go back down and try and get it for her. After I collected all of the loose pieces which scattered around, I tried to hurry my way back up to hand the lady her phone.

I quickly ran up the stairs, but the lady was nowhere to be found. I then began to think whether I should hold on to the phone that was shattered in pieces, not even knowing if it still worked, or to just throw it out.

Sticking the pieces in my pocket, I made my way to work where I tried to assemble the phone. Somehow, even after a fall of about 10 feet, the phone turned on. Frantically trying to figure out how to work it, I began searching in the contacts to see if I could find a home number to call.

As I started to do that, the phone rang and it ended up being the lady's husband. I told him about the whole situation and said I would meet with him or his wife to hand it over.

A short while later, the lady called and asks where to meet. We meet at 36th and 5th.

Today I took my final exams of the semester and can finally relax. Due to the studying I did over the last few days, I wasn't able to comment much on photos, but I will try and get caught up again soon. =)

I was walking around the city today and decided to stop by B&H, one of my favorite stores in the city.  I decided to buy some color film which I will be eager to use over the next few days.

A number of you said that you couldn't see the last photograph for some reason, I hope this one works.

I also apologize for not commenting back on photos these past few days.  I've just been extremely busy with papers and other projects for school.

The Subway's Entrance

I am finally getting around to scanning my negatives into my computer. Here is the first one that I've worked on.

It was taken using my Voigtlander R2A with Kentmere 400 film.

I really like the grain on this film and for only $2.50 per roll, I think I will use it more often. I also have a roll of Kodak Tri-X that I will be scanning soon.

I finally have some of my film negatives and I will hopefully start scanning them into my computer this weekend.

The Library

Here is a photograph of the Adult Learning Center portion of the main central library in Queens.

Do you use libraries? I still do. Every month or so I tend to go and borrow a few books to keep me busy on my subway and bus rides.

Over the past week or so, I have been using my old Minolta XE-7 film slr, which has been passed down to me from my grandfather. I'm still finishing up my first roll of film, but when I do, I will try to get a few scans from the negatives up on the blog.

Shooting in film is something I haven't done since I was a little child and I must say, I was missing out for quite a while. I will definitely be using film more often.

Here is another shot of the destruction from the now confirmed tornado that hit Queens. This bus lost both of its front windows after hitting this tree.
